SIBU: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib paid KTS Group managing director Dato Henry Lau a Chinese New Year visit here yesterday.

Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud, Assistant Minister for Science Research and Biotechnology Dr Annuar Rapaee and wife Dr Haniza Zainal Abidin were among those in the entourage.

Upon arrival, Taib and his entourage were welcomed by Henry’s wife Datin Wendy Lau, mother Datin Sri Wong Suk Ting, the group’s chairman Lau Swee Nguong and Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming.

Others there to welcome His Excellency were Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang, Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) deputy chairman Robert Lau Hui Yew, Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) president Hu Yu Siong and community leaders.

Henry’s residence was the third His Excellency visited yesterday. The first was Second Minister of Finance Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh’s house followed by Dudong assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King’s.

After lunch at Henry’s residence, the TYT proceeded to the residence of Hock Peng Organisation managing director Datuk Toh Chiew Hock in Lanang Road.

Later in the evening, His Excellency attended a Chinese New Year gathering hosted by United Chinese Association (UCA) Sibu at Kingwood Hotel.
